I discovered painting in 2019 and it speaks to me more than anything else has before. I’ve always been an artist of sorts, starting the beginning of my life as a Flautist, the middle years devoted to languages, and then at around the age of 50, I decided to take on the new adventure of painting.
I am primarily a portrait artist. When I paint portraits, it’s not just about capturing a likeness, but about capturing the essence of that person, their spirit and their personality. I create paintings that reflect the people and moments that touch my life. To capture someone, with all their complexities, through paint, is quite challenging and yet very rewarding.
Acrylic has become my material of choice because of its rich, thick texture and its quick dry allows me to paint in layers much faster than in oils.
