"My interest in art began with coursework at UCLA. It was the 60s and a time of great exploration. After graduation, Viet Nam entered my life with another 'Learning Curve.' While in the military, I picked up a brush and started to express myself on canvas. Many of my paintings were darker colors and somber imagery.
"After the service, we landed in Eugene, Oregon. I'd paint in our upstairs attic after the kids were in bed. As the rigors and stress of working and raising a family became more demanding, my time and creativity became limited. I stored my brushes for 25 yrs.
"Retirement after 60 certainly has its benefits. I began using acrylics and left my beginnings in oils behind. As I painted, I realized my tastes had morphed. Vibrant colors had taken hold. I now embrace the freedom and present moment of creating the images that lie somewhere between Lawrence Welk and The Grateful Dead.
"My images are defined by color and clear, crisp lines. They exist in the same Universe but in different dimensions. The paintings are not totally abstract but solid, and at times, sculptural. Perhaps they act as a counterbalance as to how our Universe may actually be..."
